It's just impossible to feel down or negative when listening to the Volcano Kings when they are making this sort of instrumental dark-surf-space-rock stuff. Brilliantly concocted songs that just do all the right things. PaulTheOwl/Ripper/MxBv

Easily, 2021's Most Accurate Album Title. 'Lonesome..' is a bold step in VKs' current arc: crossing from post-rock into more rural territory, and expanding the dimensions wherever their muses have warranted a cinematic adjective. Matt DeMello (himself)

Before they became Kobanes, these Chicago Ramones-inspired poppy punkers formed this instro-surf band with a creepy, satanic theme and actually came up with twelve great, spooky instrumental surf tunes that transcend the schlock. Recorded in the Mecca of pop-punk, Sonic Iguana, by the Pope of pop-punk, Mass Giorgini ten years ago, then they broke up and none of us even knew about it until now. It's a very unlikely scenario, but hey, the devil works in mysterious ways. John Nunnally

An early and undeniable peak in the Kings' discography. Perhaps the single release that proved to the notoriously stingy PVD arts and prog communities this was a band with both staying power and a clear agenda. Matt DeMello (himself)
